History
In 1952 Frank Smith, Lester Langhans and Thomas McLaughlin founded Smith Langhans & McLaughlin, Inc. A Company active in commercial, industrial and public works construction markets and in residential construction in the Southern Tier of New York. The sales and installation of pre-engineered steel structures was also a part of the Company's business activity. In 1953 the company moved its offices from 137 Cedar Street, Corning, New York to its current location at 196 West Sixth Street, Corning, New York.
In 1968 both Lester Langhans and Thomas McLaughlin retired from active participation in the Company they helped found; Smith Langhans & McLaughlin, Inc. was renamed Frank N. Smith & Associates. In 1970 Keuka Construction Corporation, a merit shop company active in commercial and industrial construction projects in Steuben, Schuyler and Yates counties of New York and in home and cottage construction projects on Keuka Lake, New York merged with Frank N. Smith & Associates. The merged company continued as a merit shop contracting organization conducting its construction activity as Keuka Construction Corporation.
Charles A. Corrao joined Keuka Construction Corporation in 1976 and in 1980 was appointed President and CEO of the Company. Frank Smith continued his association as Chairman of its Board of Directors. In 1980 the Company formally expanded its geographical area of operations within the State of Pennsylvania. In 1995 Frank Smith retired and Charles Corrao became the sole corporate principal.
Keuka Construction Corporation continues to provide general contracting and management services to the commercial, industrial, public works and pre-engineered metal building markets as well as services to its residential customers. The Company's residential activity includes home and cottage alterations and additions and the construction of boathouses, docks and seawalls at various Finger Lakes locations in Steuben, Schuyler and Yates counties of New York State. Keuka Construction Corporation has recently resumed its activity in New Home Construction.
